Ask Sprigg

Ask Sprigg is your conversational AI lawn care advisor. It has access to your property data, weather conditions, disease risk, water budget, and irrigation system — so it can give you personalized, data-driven answers and even take actions on your behalf.

Where to Find Sprigg

On your phone, tap Askin the bottom tab bar — it opens the full chat page, with room for your whole conversation and your thread list. On desktop, the sparkle button in the bottom-right corner opens a chat panel over whatever page you're on, so you can ask a question without losing your place. The Ask Sprigg quick action on Home takes you to the full chat page on any device.

Live Streaming Responses

Sprigg's replies stream in live, word by word — no more waiting on a spinner for the full answer. When Sprigg needs to use a tool (checking the weather, starting a zone, pulling your watering history), you'll see a chip for each step — pulsing while it runs, and marked with a checkmark once it's done — so you always know what's happening behind the scenes and what's already finished.

Answers also link into the app. When Sprigg mentions a zone, a setting, or a page, that's a live link — tap it and you go straight there. On desktop the chat panel closes itself as it takes you, so you land on the page you asked about.

What You Can Ask

Ask Sprigg anything about your lawn care. Some examples:

The AI assistant isn't just conversational — it can take real actions through built-in tools:

Confirming Actions

Before Sprigg does anything that changes your lawn or your plan — starting or stopping irrigation, skipping a watering day, or updating or deleting a calendar entry — it shows you exactly what it's about to do with Confirm and Cancelbuttons. Tap Confirm and it goes ahead; tap Cancel and nothing happens. You don't need to retype the zone name or the duration. Sprigg proposes one action at a time, so a request like "stop the front yard and skip tomorrow" comes back as two confirmations in a row.

Start Irrigation Zone

Say something like "Start the front yard for 20 minutes" and Sprigg will send a command to your controller. It uses fuzzy zone name matching, so you don't need to know exact zone numbers. Duration can be 1-60 minutes.

Stop Irrigation

Say "Stop watering" or "Turn off all zones" to immediately stop any running zones on your controller.

Check Irrigation Status

Ask "What zones are running?" to get the current status of your irrigation system.

Skip a Watering Day

Say "Don't water tomorrow, we're having a party" and Sprigg will record a skip instruction for that date — property-wide or for specific zones — that the daily advisor honors when it makes its watering decisions.

Manage Calendar Entries

Say "Log that I fertilized today" or "Add a mowing event for yesterday" and Sprigg will create a care plan entry for you. Sprigg can also update or delete existing entries, and look up your full calendar history — even events from months ago.

View and Analyze Lawn Photos

Ask "Show me my recent lawn photos" or "Show me photos from March" to retrieve photos you've uploaded. You can also filter by date range. Sprigg can actually look at your photos — not just their analysis summaries — to visually diagnose problems, and can run a full photo analysis right from chat (counts toward your monthly analysis limit).

Sprigg also sees which zone each photo is tagged to, and can fix it when you tell it: say "that one's the back slope" and Sprigg tags the photo for you. You can add or change a photo's note the same way. Sprigg only records what you tell it — it won't guess a photo's zone from what's in the frame.

Zone Holds and Corrections

Tell Sprigg a zone needs to stay off — a broken pipe, fresh sod — and it places a hold that the daily advisor honors until you lift it. Corrections stick too: tell it what's actually planted in a zone, or that "those heads are MP Rotators, not sprays," and Sprigg updates the zone's profile so every future runtime is computed from the right numbers.

Query Watering History

Ask "How much did we water in May?" and Sprigg can look back through your full irrigation history, well beyond the last week.

Search the Sprigg Docs

Ask Sprigg how the app itself works — "how do I connect my controller?", "how many photo analyses do I get this month?", "what does Audit mode do?" — and it searches these documentation pages and answers with a link to the page it used, so you can read the full details.

Search Trusted Turf Resources

For product and treatment questions, Sprigg can search university turf extension sites and product labels on the web, so answers about rates and timing stay label-accurate.

Save Feedback

If something isn't working right or you have a suggestion, just tell Sprigg. It will log your feedback directly for the team to review.

Save Memory

Tell Sprigg something it should remember about your lawn or preferences — for example, "Remember that my back yard gets waterlogged after heavy rain." Sprigg will save this context and reference it in future conversations. You can also ask what it remembers, or tell it to forget something.

Context-Aware Responses

Every conversation with Ask Sprigg includes real-time context about your property:

• Current and forecasted weather conditions
• Disease risk levels and active triggers
• Estimated root-zone soil moisture for each zone
• Weekly water budget status for all zones
• Your zone configuration and metadata
• Recent irrigation history
• Your lawn care calendar
• Property details (grass type, soil, region)

This means you don't need to give Sprigg background information — it already knows your lawn. The AI's communication style also adapts to your configured expertise level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced).

Chat Threads

Conversations are organized into threads. Each thread maintains context, so you can have ongoing discussions about a topic. You can:

• Start a new thread — Begin a fresh conversation
• Resume a thread — Continue where you left off
• Delete a thread — Remove a conversation and its history

One thread is Sprigg's own: Sprigg Questions, created automatically for each property. Sprigg starts conversations there when it has something worth saying — a disease-risk spike, an action that needs your attention, your weekly summary, or a question that would help it dial in your care plan. Reply right in the thread and Sprigg has the full context of what it told you. Routine day-to-day events (like a skipped watering) stay in the notification bell, so an unread dot on the thread always means something worth reading.

Chat Limits

The number of chat messages you can send per month depends on your plan. Your current usage and remaining messages are displayed in the chat interface. When you reach your monthly limit, you'll see a link to upgrade your plan for continued access.

Tool usage (starting zones, adding events, etc.) counts toward your chat limit since each action requires an AI interaction.
