What's new in Sprigg. Every release brings smarter watering decisions, new features, and polish — here's the highlight reel, newest first.

v1.8.2 — July 2026

Mostly fixes. One thing worth knowing about:

Sprigg may ask about your sprinkler type — How fast a zone applies water decides how long it runs, and controllers are often set up with the wrong nozzle type. A zone assumed to be spray heads but actually fitted with MP Rotators gets roughly a thirdof the water Sprigg thinks it's giving it. When what you've mentioned doesn't match your controller, Sprigg will now say so — and you can correct it in chat ("those are MP Rotators"), which updates the zone and every runtime that follows from it.

v1.8.1 — July 2026

When Sprigg promises to leave a zone alone, it now keeps that promise.

Zone holds— Tell Sprigg in chat that a zone needs to stay off — a broken pipe, fresh sod, a valve you're waiting on a plumber for — and it holds that zone out of the rotation until you say otherwise. Previously the only way to pause a zone was to skip a specific date, so an open-ended commitment ("I'll leave it alone until the pipe is fixed") had nowhere to live, and the next morning's plan watered it anyway.
Held zones are stopped at the valve, not just in the plan — The hold is checked again in the moment before the sprinklers start, so it holds even if the plan was written before you asked. Ask for a hold mid-watering and the remaining cycles stop too.
You can see and lift every hold — Held zones are marked On holdon the Zones tab and in zone setup, with the reason, what would end it, and a Resume watering button. A hold nobody remembers is a zone that quietly dies of thirst, so it stays visible for as long as it's in effect.

v1.8 — July 2026

The watering-accuracy update: water now goes down the way Sprigg plans it, and every drop is counted the way your lawn actually experiences it.

Cycle & soak actually runs now — Zones on a slope or in heavy clay have always been plannedin cycles, with a soak between them so the water sinks in instead of running down the driveway. Sprigg now runs them that way: your zone waters in stages, pauses to let it soak, and comes back for the rest. Same total water, far less of it wasted. You'll see it on the plan as "3 cycles · 15 min soak" — and on the controller as several shorter runs.
Water tracking now counts what reaches the roots— Sprinklers lose some water to wind, evaporation, and uneven coverage. Sprigg used to bank every drop that left the nozzle; it now counts only what actually reaches the root zone, which is what your lawn's weekly target is measured in. Your weekly totals will read lower than before — nothing changed in your yard, we're just no longer taking credit for water that blew away.
No more repeat watering on a quiet week— On stretches where the weather barely moves, Sprigg reuses the previous day's thinking to save a full re-analysis. It could reuse a watering day and water again on top of it. Now any day that applied water always gets a fresh look.
Watering-day restrictions are enforced, not just requested — If your town or HOA limits you to certain days, Sprigg now blocks watering on the other days outright — at planning time and again at the moment the sprinklers would start.
Manual runs wait for the right window — Kicking off an analysis by hand used to start the sprinklers immediately, even at 2pm. It now waters at the scheduled morning time, the same as the daily run.
Drought mode no longer double-counts— With a drought reduction set, the cut was being applied twice, watering less than you asked for. It's applied once now.
Accurate weekly totals— A Sunday-evening run could land in the following week's numbers depending on your timezone. Weeks now start at midnight where your property is.
Polish— Care-plan suggestions for one zone no longer go missing because another zone's task was already done that day, and skip-watering requests are honored for the day the water would actually fall.

v1.7 — July 2026

Sprigg becomes an app: install it on your phone straight from the browser, get the alerts that matter on your lock screen, and see the science behind every decision.

Install Sprigg on your phone— No app store needed. On Android, tap More → Install the Sprigg app (or the install banner); on iPhone, use Share → Add to Home Screen. You get a home-screen icon, a full-screen app, and it still opens on one bar of signal in the back yard — showing your last-known data until you're back in range.
Push notifications— Frost warnings, disease-risk spikes, watering confirmations, and a heads-up when a zone didn't run as planned, delivered to your lock screen. Enable per device from Settings → Notifications; the same per-type toggles cover both email and push. On iPhone, install the app first.
The new Zones tab — Zones now has its own place in the navigation: one card per zone with live watering state and countdown, weekly water progress, the last run, and the latest photo. Tap any card to jump into the zone.
Measure zones from satellite— Trace a zone's outline once on satellite imagery and measured square footage replaces the estimate — making fertilizer amounts and water totals match your actual yard. Find it in Settings → Zones.
The science behind every decision— Zone pages now show the calculations from each morning's analysis: soil moisture (and whether it came from your sensor or the model), feeding suggestions, and — for advanced users — growth potential, the nitrogen budget, and spray windows. Appears for intermediate and advanced expertise levels.
Built for your thumb— A new bottom tab bar on mobile puts Home, Zones, Photos, and Ask Sprigg one tap away. And "Dashboard" is now simply Home.
Polish — Clearer next-run forecast display, better map centering when measuring zones, and a tidier chat button on mobile.

Also in v1.7 — reliability and fixes

B-Hyve watering works properly— A round of fixes to the Orbit integration: Sprigg's start and stop commands now actually reach the timer, your run history is read correctly, and suspending B-Hyve's own schedules sticks — including under Smart Watering. Zone sync also picks up slope and the right enabled/disabled state.
Sprigg tells you when your controller is watering on its own— If your controller still has its own schedules running alongside Sprigg, you get a heads-up on the dashboard rather than a mysterious double-watered lawn. The Rachio banner no longer claims schedules are active when they're all switched off.
"You didn't water" only when we actually know— When Sprigg couldn't read your controller, it treated silence as proof nothing had run and said so. It now says plainly that recent watering couldn't be verified — and never asks you to go debug your own hardware.
Today's Plan tells the truth about today— Zones show "Watered" once they've actually run, a plan scheduled for tomorrow morning is no longer labeled today, and run times display in your property's timezone rather than Eastern.
Every zone gets a decision, every day— On larger properties the daily analysis could quietly skip zones or get cut off mid-answer. Each zone is now guaranteed its own decision, and filler text like "placeholder" no longer reaches you.
Smoother zone setup — The onboarding placeholder zone retires itself once a real controller syncs, changing your zone set triggers a fresh plan, and disabled zones can be opened and edited.
App polish— Fixed a bug where the installed app could show a previous account's cached data after switching users, plus a stale Today's Plan, a missing favicon, sunrise times reading ":60", and faster dashboard loads.

v1.6 — July 2026

The science update: Sprigg gets frost-aware, dormancy-smart, and starts learning your yard's microclimate — plus real measurements from soil test reports, soil sensors, and your own sprinklers.

Sprigg learns your microclimate— With a Tempest weather station connected, Sprigg compares each day's forecast to what your rain gauge actually measured and corrects for how forecasts miss at your address.
Frost warnings — When frost or a hard freeze is in the forecast, Sprigg alerts you ahead of time, skips evening watering, and tells you to hold the nitrogen. New toggle in notification settings.
Dormancy smarts — Sprigg now knows when your lawn is dormant: sleeping cool-season turf gets no water, and dormant bermuda or zoysia gets just enough during cold, dry, windy spells to prevent winter desiccation.
Sprigg reads your soil test — Photograph your lab report and Sprigg extracts the pH and nutrient values, explains them in plain language, and folds them into your fertilizer and lime guidance. Find it in Settings.
Soil sensor support — Connect Ecowitt soil-moisture sensors and mapped zones water based on a real probe in the ground instead of a model.
Measure your sprinklers — Run a guided catch-cup test from Settings → Zones and Sprigg replaces assumed sprinkler rates with what your system actually puts down, badge included.
A feeding budget for your grass — Season-long nitrogen targets for your species, paced to when your lawn can actually use the food — and Sprigg tells you when enough is enough.
Pest & timing alerts — Soil-temperature triggers for pre-emergent, overseeding, green-up, and winterizer windows; wind-checked spray days; seeding windows scored for your species; and disease alerts that get more sensitive for diseases your lawn has actually had.

v1.5 — July 2026

Our biggest update yet: Orbit B-Hyve support goes live, chat gets real-time responses, and the watering brain gets a major upgrade.

Orbit B-Hyve support is here — Connect your B-Hyve timer with your email and password, pick your device, and Sprigg takes it from there: automatic watering, rain delays, live watering status, and full run history.
Ask Sprigg answers in real time— Responses now stream in live, word by word, and you can watch Sprigg's progress while it checks the weather or starts a zone.
A smarter watering brain— Sprigg now tracks the moisture in each zone's root zone and waters based on what your soil actually holds, not just a weekly quota. Sprinkler runtimes are also corrected for each zone's real-world efficiency, so the water you're prescribed is the water your lawn gets.
Better disease and pest forecasting — Dollar spot risk now uses the same research-backed model trusted by golf course superintendents, and Sprigg flags the ideal treatment windows for grubs, Japanese beetles, chinch bugs, and armyworms.
Announcements — Product news from the team now arrives in your notification bell (and optionally by email), with a new Announcements toggle in notification settings. Important updates may appear as a dismissible banner in the app.
Tighter credential security— Saved API keys and passwords are never displayed again after you save them; the field simply shows "Saved — enter a new value to replace".

v1.4 — July 20, 2026

More honest numbers across the board — your charts and health score now tell the true story.

Rebalanced lawn health score — The health score now weighs what matters most, so it better reflects how your lawn is really doing.
Honest water accounting — Water totals reflect what your sprinklers actually delivered, and weekly tallies line up consistently everywhere they appear.
More accurate evaporation estimates — We corrected how Sprigg estimates daily water loss from heat and sun, which sharpens weekly watering targets.

Ask Sprigg got a lot more capable — and the AI behind it got a major upgrade.

Smarter AI — Sprigg upgraded to the latest model, improving the quality of daily recommendations and chat answers.
Sprigg can look at your photos — In chat, Sprigg now views your lawn photos directly to visually diagnose problems, and can run a full photo analysis on request.
"Skip watering tomorrow" just works — Tell Sprigg to skip a day (for a party, mowing, or treatment) and the daily plan honors it — guaranteed.
Full calendar control from chat — Add, update, or delete care plan entries, and ask about your complete watering and activity history, no matter how far back.
Label-accurate product answers — For product and treatment questions, Sprigg can now search university turf extension resources and product labels.
Faster chat — Behind-the-scenes caching makes multi-turn conversations noticeably quicker.

A focused reliability fix: some lawns with long histories were only getting decisions logged for their first zone — daily analysis now records every zone, every day.
