Zones
The Zonespage in the main navigation is your per-zone view of the week: one card per zone showing what it's doing right now and how it's tracking. Today's full plan and Sprigg's reasoning stay on the Home page — Zones is where you go to check on, control, and understand an individual zone.
The Zones Overview
Each zone card shows:
- Current state — watering now (with a live countdown), watering today, resting, or skipped
- Weekly water progress — this week's total split into rain and irrigation, against the zone's target
- Most recent run — when the zone last watered and for how long
- Latest zone photo — the newest photo tagged to that zone
Click anywhere on a card to open the zone's detail page, or use the card's Run now action to start a manual run. Links at the bottom of the page take you to the full Irrigation History and to zone setup in Settings. On mobile, Zones is a tab in the bottom navigation bar.
Zone Detail
A zone's detail page collects everything Sprigg knows about it:
- Hardware stats — precipitation rate, efficiency, soil type, shade factor, root depth, slope, max runtime, and soak time
- Category & description — editable context that improves the AI's decisions
- Science panel — the stored calculations behind the latest daily analysis (see below)
- Manual controls — start or stop the zone on demand (controller zones)
- Recent decisions — the zone's decision log with full reasoning
The Science Panel
The Science panel shows the actual numbers from the most recent daily analysis — not a live estimate, but the calculations Sprigg used when it made today's decision. What you see depends on your expertise level (set in Settings):

| Advanced | Everything above plus the machinery: inches-to-refill vs. root-zone capacity, growth potential (today and 7-day average), the nitrogen budget arithmetic (applied vs. annual target vs. remaining), spray-window verdicts for the coming days, calibration and measured-area details, and your soil test summary |
The panel is stamped with the date of the analysis it came from. If a zone was set up after the last analysis, science appears after the next daily run.
Measured, Not Assumed
Two measurements sharpen everything the Science panel and watering math report for a zone, both run from Settings → Zones:
- Catch-cup calibration — replaces the assumed sprinkler precipitation rate and uniformity with measured values. See Irrigation for how to run the test.
- Area measurement — trace the zone once on satellite imagery and the measured square footage replaces the estimate, feeding fertilizer quantities and water totals. See Settings for the steps.
